Frequently Asked Questions
What is Cala?
Cala is a small movement and restorative studio in Cupertino created as a space to slow down, reconnect with your body, and rest. Our classes blend thoughtful movement, breath, stillness, meditation, and restorative practices.
Do I need yoga or movement experience?
Not at all. Cala is designed to be welcoming to beginners as well as those with an established practice. You’re always encouraged to move at your own pace.
What should I bring to class?
Just yourself, comfortable clothing, and a water bottle. Mats and all the props needed for class are available at the studio. You’re welcome to bring your own mat if you prefer.
What if I’m late?
Because our classes begin with a quiet arrival and grounding period, late entry may not always be possible. Please give yourself enough time to arrive and settle before class begins.
How big are the classes?
Cala intentionally keeps classes small, with a maximum of 10 clients per class. This creates a quieter, more personal atmosphere and allows for thoughtful attention from your teacher.
How long are the classes?
Class length varies depending on the practice. Cala classes range from 60 to 90 minutes, giving you time to move, settle, and experience the practice without feeling rushed.
Is Cala a workout studio?
Cala is a little different. Some classes include strengthening and more active movement, while others focus primarily on mobility, rest, stillness, and nervous-system regulation. The intention isn’t to push harder—it’s to help you listen to what your body needs.
Which class should I take if I’m new?
You can begin with any class marked as appropriate for all levels. Cala Move + Restore is a lovely introduction if you want both movement and rest, while our Yin, meditation, and sound-based classes offer an even slower experience.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please cancel at least 12 hours before class. Late cancellations and no-shows will result in the loss of the class credit.
Do class packages expire?
Yes. Cala’s 5-class package is valid for 40 days, and the 10-class package is valid for 60 days from activation.
Do I need to book in advance?
Yes. Because classes are intentionally small and limited to 10 clients, advance booking is recommended to reserve your space.
Can I attend if I’m pregnant?
Please let your teacher know before class and consult your healthcare provider about participating. Some movements and positions may need to be modified.
What if I just want to lie down and rest?
That’s welcome here. We encourage you to listen to your body, and sometimes the most appropriate practice is simply to rest.
What makes Cala different?
Cala was created around a simple idea: we don’t always need to do more to feel better. Small classes, thoughtful teaching, movement, stillness, and restorative practices create space to pause and return to yourself.
